I guess those born in the 60s or prior to that era, would really agree with me that our school holidays were so much fun back then.
I remember,I would go hiking, chopping down bamboo shoots to make what we called a "Pop Pop"pump gun and the bullets would be some kind of seeds that we would pluck down from one kind of tree, then me and my friends would play combat in the jungle.
Getting dirty by playing in the drains, trying to find those lost 5 or 10 cents coins and playing "S", (you know those little S shaped plastic that you could join them up to become a long rope) and many many more.
You know I don't want to sound so "nagging" to my boys by telling them,"You know boys, last time when papa was small, we played this, this and this and it was really fun and how I miss those games" but seeing my boys and other children alike in this age always "glued" to their PSP, Xbox, online games,Ipads,Iphone, I really feel like telling them, get out and play.
I really want my sons to be an"outdoor" person, I try to get them to walk, to run with me but sometimes when I see them rather glue to their gadgets, somehow I feel that I have failed to be a "complete" papa, particularly so during school holidays.
I tried to console myself from feeling "incomplete" by telling myself,"what the heck, let them do what they like during the school holidays for when it is over, they have their stress too"...........
Okay lah, this is just my school holiday ranting,,,,,,,by the way what is your most memorable childhood game or games?
This is what I meant the "Pop Pop Pump Gun" made from bamboo shoot.
