He went "wow" when I said Karl Marx.............

You know one of the greatest joy of being a papa, is when your children look up upon you like a hero, this joy is sometimes indescribable. So the sharing goes.........................

I was accompanying Jovial while he was reading on the subject of History, I was there because firstly I love to be for him when he encountered problems with History, ( you know they say History is boring) I was there for him to prove that the opposite is true.

So, as he went along, questions after questions came and as he touched on the topic of Communist Party of Malaysia, I shared with him Chin Peng, shared with him the " darurat"(curfew) , the British and all that surrounded the CPM, then out of sudden, Jovial asked me..............

"Papa, who founded communism ?" I knew this got more interesting already cos the part was not discussed in his textbook and I was happy that Jovial was showing his interest in History already so I snapped by fingers viola I said," By a German sociologist Karl Marx"

After saying Karl Marx, Jovial was like laughing away and was in the state of ecstasy as if he saw a Superman suddenly appearing in his presence out of no where,, when I looked into his eyes, without words I knew.he laughter clearly indicated that, "Papa, you are so geng lah"

After a brief moment of laughter, I said to him,"Papa is good leh, now only you knew that History can be interesting, kan?" He simply nodded.

You know there's one thing I truly believe now,if we were to be there for our children, accompanying them ,while they are studying and telling them the truth (when you really don't even know the answers for their questions" they will find more joy in studying.........................
P/S : Thanks Jovial for at least once you made me feel like Kent

  3. True! Sad that MANY parents these days hardly spend ANY time with their children. School in the morning, tuition classes afternoon and night and even on weekends...and they themselves work or have their own social activities ALL the time.

Their intentions may be noble - to want the best for their children but they seem blinded by how things are going. That is why social problems are on the rise - cracks are getting more and more serious in the family unit.

Sad...very sad the way the world is going!

    1. I agree on that ..
Parents nowadays send their children for piano lessons, violin n stuff like that...
the parents always replied that last time I don't have the chance to learn.. due to financial matters..
so now why don't the parents go n learn it rather forcing their children to go for it..

    2. Arthur, you make a lot of sense here,,,, the only thing that money can't buys is TIME, and the TIME we spend with our family just cannot be traded for anything else, except god lah

  4. LOL! Jovial's reaction reminds me of Avery, except the subject is different.....

My Standard-one daughter was surprised when I said out her class teacher's name. Being a naive and innocent child, she thought I don't know her teacher because I don't attend her school. Wakakaka!

  5. Once my 3 nephews (my hubby's sister's kids) found me very "geng" when I could name all their chinese zodiac, even to the extent of "dragon tail, snake head". The 3 boys kept asking me how did I know, ha!ha! I always enjoy talking to kids. They are so naive and wonderful!

  8. Hegel is next ! Yes we all should learn history and find out where all these ideas come from. ...History can be very subjective depending on who is telling it...our own country's histroy is a good example.

  10. You made my day!

Now I think of my dad who taught me Bahasa Malaysia when i was in Standard 2 as I was doing badly in Standard One getting so many zeros! Seriously I thought I was retarded child but my dad made me excel in BM. Eventually I even went on school stage to tell BM stories and drama plays till I graduate from US. Your son will do well and remember you always!
