You make me proud...man.

My big one Jovial has gone for a 4 nights 5 days camping trip, leaving behind my lil one Marvell all alone at home when me and my lovely wife go for work.

Ok, he is not a latchkey kid, it is just that he prefers to stay at home to do his origami and his reading and i am thankful that my office is just a less than 5 minutes drive home.

My sharing of today's post is all about my lil one Marvell Ung Wew, my lil one that makes me proud, the lil one who sometimes teaches me, albeit subtly life's simplest stuff, let me share this here with you guys.

I called him up about 10.30 am yesterday telling him to get ready as i would pick him up and tagged him along for my business round to see customers, as soon as he hopped into my car, profusely he said this," Papa papa, thank you" i asked him, why did he say thank you to me, he responded," Because i know you are busy but you still came and picked me up and i know you love me a lot, papa."

When it was about lunch time, i took him to a mall and suggested to him that we should have our lunch in a nice restaurant and he could choose any to his liking but instead he told me this," papa no need to eat good food lah, just a simple one will do, i know earning money is not easy and we can't simply spend ya"

I insisted that i wanted to give him a nice treat and after some coaxing,he finally yielded to my suggestion and i took him for Japanese food, during the lunch once again he kept saying this to me," papa, thank you for taking me here, papa thank you a lot and thank you for you know i like sushi and you are the greatest dad of all"

After the lunch, i dropped him back into my office and asked him to stay behind as i needed to go to see another customer and when i came back again he said," papa, thank you for letting me play the computer, thank you papa i managed to googled for Origami and papa i did this big cube origami for you to say thank you to you"

In the evening, i went for my run, after done with running, as usual i hollered him down to the garden as i wanted to play crazily with him in the game he coined "game of catch ball" , during the crazy game, suddenly he charged at me and gave me a bear hug and kept telling this,"papa papa thank you thank you, today i am so happy" ditto.

Please forgive me, i am not trumpeting or blowing my own horns of how great a father i am, it is just that i am real proud of my two wonderful boys, for my lil Marvell, his way of expressing his appreciation to the things he is given even though it is the onus of a father to make the children happy, i am truly proud of him, to say the least.

Sometimes, even adults like us tend not to say a simple "thank you" for the small gestures of others and worst we feel that someone owes us the good thing and there is nothing to be thankful for......let us sometime learn from the little ones, they sometimes speak volumes.

他的童真,我的窝心

P/S : When we are thankful even for a little then we shall be happy.

  3. OMG...your children are so appreciative of their parents, and are expressive too. Great! Let's hope they'll continue to be as appreciative and expressive when they're older. :)

    Cheers, bro.

  5. That's very sweet of a little boy, I usually see these antics from girls but rarely from boys!^-^

My girl too, she always kisses me, says she loves me and thanks me for 'whatever' I have done for her!:)

No need to feel you are blowing your trumpet. Blow away. He is indeed a good boy and you should be proud of him.

  10. The word "thank you" means a lot, like a token of appreciation, acknowledgement and gratefulness.

You have taught your sons to be humble and moderate. You should be proud of yourself too :) Kudos, Eugene!

  11. Lovely loving son...but be sure to treat them both the same. They're so sweet, so good as you and your missus have brought them up well. Children brought up with love will be loving and caring...

  12. Jovial must made your day Uncle Eugene, he's a good boy, and I agree with his 'thank you' appreciation. It's a simple thing that we seldom care about. He's realizing me through this post! No wonder you're proud toward Jovial :)
