Damsel in distress................

Someone shared this with me not too long ago, and when she was sharing, she was frustrated , so the story goes................

****When i first started to come out and work, big chunk of my salary was given to my mother, and when i got married i was the only one in the family giving her the most monthly allowance, i did that consistenly for so many years untill i got divorced last year.

By then i could not give her as much as i wanted to and sometimes i even defaulted on my giving due to my tight financial constraint, i had to take care of my two children for my ex is not supporting me in anyway. Then suddenly my mother turned cold towards me. I really dont know why?

Why could not she understand that i am struggling to make ends meet, and starting to stand up on my own, i need sometimes to make in on my own, during this time, i need her support and blessing but sadly it is not forthcoming. I really dont understand, my other siblings are giving her some allowance too, and as i gather those amount given to her is more than sufficient for her monthly, why is she still being hostile towards me.

I just wonder is money the root of the problem that strains the relationship between a mom and her daughter*********

P/S : Sometimes i wonder too, how much is enough?

  2. I wonder why even mother & daughter can be so calculative. I really sad to read this and even sadder to see it in real life. Is MONEY is the only thing they care? I really wonder..

  6. I'm blessed with a wonderful mom, since my dad passed away she has limited income...yet with all sort of burdens strangling her, she still able to keep up the household wihout asking a penny from us. I always feel guilty that I can't give her a constant allowance since I have resigned, but instead of laments she asked me to keep the money to buy something better for myself and my kids... mom, I love you!

  11. The mother shouldnt do that. She should think about her grandchildren; even support them financially and emotionally if possible.

  12. This is such a sad story. Perhaps she has expectation of her but...well...she didn't really tell her how difficult it was for her. :/

  13. We just have to accept that not all mothers are wise. However, things are not all lost. It's good if your friend could have a mom-daughter chat. I'm sure the mom wld realise and react well. :)
    I wish them well. ^_^

  16. I guess money is really giving troubles to family. Many brother sister, parent, son and daughter fighting all because of money. I just had a personal experience of someone related to me making the whole family upside down because of MONEY! Sigh...
