You think this is stupid ?

His wife succumbed to cancer 17 years ago, and he was only 52 then, (men in the 50s, still carry a lot of charm and spunk, dont we?) but since then i mean since the first week of his wife's demise which was on Friday, my friend Mr Kong has never failed to visit his wife's grave with a stalk of flower every friday evening as soon as he comes down from his hike right untill now.

I didnt believe it when i was told by his ex colleague about Mr Kong's undying love for his wife because i have never heard something like this from the people i know but yesterday i heard it right from the horse's mouth when i met Mr Kong during lunch.

It was hard for me to ask him to "testify" in front of me about his incessant love for his wife that i heard from his ex colleague, but to Mr Kong i am always the little boy who used to go to his office during my sales round many years ago, so i reckon it would not be a problem or even foolhardy for me to ask him what i eagerly wanting to know when given the chance.

So i asked, " Mr Kong, i heard that every friday after your hike, you will always go to your wife's grave and pay her the respect, true ka.? i asked incredulously. He was stunned with my question and as smile began to beam on his face he replied, " Indeed it is true"

I was amazed with his "testimony" i gave him a pat on the shoulder and put my hand on my forehead in a salute sign to this man Mr Kong who has stood the test of time as far as true love is concerned.

I will be celebrating my 13th wedding annervessary this coming 16th of November, i truly love my wife, no doubt about it, and i am still truly, madly and deeply in love with her, but can i be like Mr Kong when the very essence of love is tested, as for now i am 80% certain, i will but the remaining 20%, (may be if i can still find someone like her, then .......)

The most bizzare one i heard was this, the husband took in his girlfriend just three days after his wife's demise and pronounced to his children the new status of his girlfriend.(This happened to my former classmate)

Q)Do you think it is stupid to stay steadfastly devoted in marriage even when the other partner is gone?

P/S : The equation between Love and Stupidity is still LOVE............

  1. I don't think this is stupid. This shows that he truly loves his wife. No matter she's physically around or not. The love still grows. It's very hard to find someone like him nowadays.. bless him with happiness.. :)

  3. No I personally dont think its stupid. Love knows no boundaries. its a feeling thats arise from another person care and passion for us. our flesh might died, but our feeling, never. It only became stupid if we allow ourself to be hurt so much that we refuse to carry on in life. Rambling thoughts

  4. Eugene :My question will be on the other hand. "What's the reason for not visiting the grave on Friday?"

  9. Dear All,

That's why i respect Mr Kong so much, i remember i was there visiting his wife many years ago when she was battling with cancer, and i never thougth Mr Kong could be so faitful untill today.

At that time, i thought Mr Kong was so caring because of his wife dying days, seriously never thought he is so steadfast in love.

yesterday, i asked him to allow me to take photo with me cos i told him i blogged and i want to show my respect to him, he declined saying no bid deal, it was between him and his wife.....

  13. Some people can't stand being alone so they move on to find another life companion.

Some can, so they stay... It isn't a stupid thing to do. It just all depends on the person.

But the case of where the wife dies and 3days later his brings home his girlfriend, now that is just pathetic.

  17. Don't think it's stupid but then I find that it's all right to look for your other soul mate if he/her appears, of course not within 3 days.

  18. To me, it doesn't matter if its everyday, every Friday or even shifting the house beside the grave... so long as whatever that the person does makes him feel that much closer to his/her loved one, who had passed on, does he/she need to be accountable to anyone?

Even if the act seemed like stupidity, so long as it calms the soul and lifts up the spirit, its good enough....
Love is personal....it doesn't take an act/practise to measure Love... yet, because its personal, its up to individual to decide how he/she wants to express that Love...

  21. There is nothing absolute in life as feelings change over time but Mr Kong deserves respect for still being so loving and doesn't mind being alone. Some people need companionship more than others.

  22. i think its not really the question of stupidity.yeah, no doubt Mr kong loves his wife very much.somehow,i think there's some part where he didn't fufill his wife wishes or request - that makes him visits her grave so that regularly.there's regrets and of course - missing her wife very much.to some,it may seems like a mental torture of never accepting that someone you love is really gone.to others, theres acceptence because they know, during the time their spouses were still alive, they did showered their wives/hubbies with love and happiness. if i go first ,its okay.if my spouse go first,...i may not do the same thing as Mr Kong's doing.
