Sons. I did it for you guys.

I will never forget my 1st Full Marathon,I was so proud of myself but on top of all that, I was proud because I did it all for my two sons,,Jovial and Marvell.

Even though,my result was not that too good to shout about,(I did sub 5.30) but being able to do it and did it for my boys will have far more significance than crossing the finishing line.
(Note: I was confident of doing better but then again,I just enjoyed talking to other runners and cheering them up)

I remember coming home after the run, the first one that greeted me at the doorstep was my Marvell and the first statement that he uttered as he came to hug was this..."Papa,I am so proud of you" that itself is worth all the endurance, the tears (seriously I almost cried when I was about to cross the finishing line),the blisters and the pain.

Who knows, maybe one day, when my sons need a little push in life, when they find it hard to live it up or when the stress is far too insurmountable,I would then tell them about "My First Full Marathon" story.

Note : thank God for a prayer answered,I prayed for injury free run and I was granted one

Proudest of my life
P/S : The agony of Marathon running is nothing compared to this,"Papa I am so proud of you"

  3. Congrats to you! Great job.

Sub 5:30... means I would have seen you passed by as I was at the roundabout near Gold Coast resort supporting full marathoners arriving there.

Pity didn't notice you otherwise we can take photo of you. Though I think you passed by us... were you making "supporting" noises there : let's go or something? :)

    Again, congrats to your FM!

  10. I like your last paragraph too. Like in the future when your sons are down and need a little push, you can use this story to inspire them. Win or lose is no matter. THe important thing is that you have try your best! And your family is always by your side.

Congratulations Eugene. Keep up the good work.
