Even though,my result was not that too good to shout about,(I did sub 5.30) but being able to do it and did it for my boys will have far more significance than crossing the finishing line.
(Note: I was confident of doing better but then again,I just enjoyed talking to other runners and cheering them up)
I remember coming home after the run, the first one that greeted me at the doorstep was my Marvell and the first statement that he uttered as he came to hug was this..."Papa,I am so proud of you" that itself is worth all the endurance, the tears (seriously I almost cried when I was about to cross the finishing line),the blisters and the pain.
Who knows, maybe one day, when my sons need a little push in life, when they find it hard to live it up or when the stress is far too insurmountable,I would then tell them about "My First Full Marathon" story.
Note : thank God for a prayer answered,I prayed for injury free run and I was granted one

ReplyDeleteWell done Eugene! You have set a great example to your boys.
I like your last paragraph too. Like in the future when your sons are down and need a little push, you can use this story to inspire them. Win or lose is no matter. THe important thing is that you have try your best! And your family is always by your side.
