Home or football

I am sorry I know football is almost synonymous to what a "real man" is and I know some gals love football too, I am not against it, I mean sporting side of it but if the coin is flipped,if stakes, bet and wagering are concerned, then my friend's story can be a "lesson" borrowed now.

I bumped into an old friend yesterday afternoon, before I could ask about her husband,(cos I know the husband as well) she just told me that she got divorced from him 3 years ago, I was surprised because the husband to me was a good good kind of male breed.

Then sensing my curiosity, she just said,"nothing with girls, you know Tony, right? In fact he was a good man but I did not know that he was into football gambling, when I found out, I forgave him once but the second time around, it was far worse than the first time.

She trusted him with their combined FDs of about RM30,000,he lost it from gambling, her last straw was when her husband begged her to sell their house because besides RM30,000,he got involved with "ah longs" and the amount owed was insurmountable.

Her ultimatum to her husband was,if he insisted to sell the house, divorce was inevitable but sadly Tony had got no way out and my friend decided to take half of the proceed from selling the house and moved on with her own life.

As a husband and a father,I sincerely ask of you this to all my lady friends, please be careful with your man's "habits" particularly football betting or any kind of gambling, it can be very deadly.

I really don't know how to advise lah but with so many football matches day in and day out, the enticements are like ubiquitous, just be careful lah.........

There is just no fun in spoiling a happy home, you know what I mean?

P/S : The shoo-in from gambling is that eventually you will never win

  4. I don't quite follow any sports in particular and am not a football fan either. Occasionally follow F1 and golf (when I was still actively playing the game). I am the type that is pretty kiasu when it comes to gambling and really feel the pain if I lost even RM1 from gambling. Just felt that I lost without gaining anything. The only time that I actually have some form of gambling would be CNY. Winning of course is fun but the pain of losing far outweighs the thrill of winning for me. But I can understand where you are coming from. I have seen, witnessed and heard so many of my friends placing huge amount of bets on almost every match of football that they can think of and they are not talking about RM1 or Rm10. Not even RM100. They are talking in terms of thousands! I simply just can't comprehend that

  6. I believe the wife did the right thing to walk out. Same like abuse. If one-slap, just walk out. Although some say we should give chance, but certain things cannot be tolerated.

  9. Yup....football gambling is addictive. I experience it here in SG where it's legalized. I stop it since years ago!

  11. Knowing that gambling is bad, our govt should ban casinos too besides trying hard to prevent football bettings from operating. So many thousands of gamblers have gone bankrupt with broken families after being addicted to casino tables in our country.

  12. Gambling is a wicked addiction. Once I chatted with a road side cobbler while waiting for him to fix my shoes. He told me how someone introduced him to internet gambling. He said he worked so hard and gambled all his money away, even borrowed from his children to pay his debts, he said he knew it was a bad thing and it was taking away all his hard earned money, yet he can't stop himself... so sad.
