Of travel and of favor..............

Something really frustrates me, I did not ask for it in the first place but since you asked and as a friend I really wanted to do it for you.................

So he knew I was going for a holiday, so he asked," Can you buy me a bottle of perfume of xxx brand, heard it was cheaper there?" I said okay, I would if I really could find it and if the price he said was exactly the same.

Long story short, I managed to find the perfume and bought it after a few SMSes and a call because the price was a slight difference but he agreed.

I called him a day I arrived from my holiday, he said he would call me to correct from me the perfume but until today (it has been exactly a week now) ,there is no call from him, sent him a few SMSes, he replied," call u back"

Now, I feel really frustrated, I took the extra effort in scouting the perfume for a friend and all that a friend cares enough to do is to let me hangs in a limbo and I really feel like telling him, forget about the perfume, I could use it myself,( but I only use Aquas Digeo) and not forgetting about the few hundred ringgit already spent, I might need to "liquidate" the perfume for some cash, can you understand it?

I never like to ask friends to buy me stuff when they go for holiday, except from my wife or unless they kindly ask.

I remember last month a dear friend was going for a holiday to Taiwan and she knew that I loved "Birkenstock" a lot, she even said it was about 30 to 40 percent cheaper and she asked if I wanted to "tumpang" to buy a pair and I asked her was she already going to buy some for her other friends, she said yes, then I just declined her good offer.

Note : Can you feel my frustration ?

P/S : Let their holidays be holidays lah..

  1. I can feel your pain bro. Nowadays, we will only do it for either family members or really good friends who also would do the same for us. Can u imagine having to bring back 6 to 7 Coach bags from US and only one was ours? U can imagine how close I keep that piece of hand luggage to me the entire time traveling back. Losing that luggage is potentially a couple of thousands ringgit burnt. The stress is humongous. And I will only do it when my wife travels with me. Otherwise, it is sorry, no matter who you are because I want to enjoy my traveling hassle free. And I make it a point not to ask others to buy things for me either.

  6. I also have the same nuisance friend who is worse off. He would simply ask me to buy unnecessary stuffs for him and I would end up giving him as a gift. It has been 3 occasions and I think I had enough! I can feel your similar frustrations!

  7. Understand how you are feeling now. Feel like been used and cheated right? I never asked anyone to buy me anything when they go for holiday except hubby and my sister if I really need something that I cannot find here.

  11. I asked some friends to get me stuffs and usually I set my requirement quite lenient and make sure I pay them first before they buy. Er... if you travel to Japan one day, can I ask you to get me something :p

  12. Yes, Eugene you are right . Never ask anyone to buy things for you. Sometimes it takes so much time to hunt it down at the right price and with all the new and everchanging luggage regulation on plane, a small thing can become a nightmare.

  14. Wow, I can really feel your frustration. I'd just sms him that "it's urgent if he cares to call me back, as I'm in need of cash and if he doesn't want the perfume then I'd sell it off"... you know then let him feel it! Coz at the end of the day, you know what kind of friends to keep and what kind not to.

Sorry I am so "mmm hak hei" and I say my thoughts, whether the person like it or not... that's why my hubby say my tongue very sharp. But in this case, it's not you wrong, it's him who should feel paiseh... if he can feel

Pls update us on the perfume status, bro.

  16. Yes it's really frustrated. He said it but never really mean it. Last year my friend went Europe for holiday and offered to help me buy branded bag. But I declined her offer as I scare making her hassle.
