I'm proud of you Jo...............

With wifey not around over the weekend, on Sunday I took my two boys cruised up to Batu Ferringhi beach just to unwind and strolled along the beautiful beach of Penang. (seriously now Penang's beaches are so much cleaner now)

Done with the Batu Ferringhi beach, we headed to one hotel for a late lunch, and out of sudden, I told my boys that we would do another outing such like this next weekend when their mommy was back, Marvell nodded with excitement but not so with Jovial and I wondered why..............

Then he said,'Papa, next week I can't do it" I asked why,he responded," Because next weekend, I want to prepare for my exams and I want to study hard for it" I said okay then................

Frankly, Jovial is not in the category of the echelons as far as academic achievement is concerned in his form but that's all right with us, we have never pressured him, he does not go to any tuition classes,(he chooses not to) but we are glad that he is still among the "okays" among his peers........

I am proud of him because he might seem to be a slacker when it comes to his "study" on a non exam days but he just knows when to pull up his socks and beef up when the exams are near, I guess that's his way of study and I respect that as he knows what he is expected to do.

I guess sometimes parents fail to understand that every boy and girl is different, we really want them to excel but we have not really discovered the 'nicer" ways to allow them to do it "better", we get them to do the uniformed rituals of running from one tuition class after another and we refuse as parents to recognize that besides academic achievement, characters building, confidence boosting and respect is equally if not more important.................I can be wrong but I know my boys are happy.

P/S : Again......I am proud of you son

  9. As long as we do not put pressure on their studies, it will not be so stressful on them... your kids are smart.. no need to go tuition..

    1. They are not smart and those going to tuition are not stupid either,it is just that parents are too keen in seeing the exam result lah

  12. I always believe our child are what they are because of how parents taught them from young. It is that foundation that the parents have built that allows them to continue building that special character and personality. Well done bro and your wifey for doing a good job and yes, I am very proud of your son too ....
