For one shocking moment, I really thought my 74 years old mom could operate a computer and surf the Internet.
Took her out for breakfast yesterday, out of a sudden, she asked me,if I'd known from the Internet already the buzz about boycotting a certain brand of bread that had capital,"G" on it, I said to her that I'd and she asked me did I respond to the call, I said not yet.
Proudly she declared that along side with most of her friends, they'd switched to another brand that had, initial "M" on it then I asked my mom did they exactly know the reasons for the so called,"boycott" and was there any truth in it, she just said,"must show them some colors lah" Ditto.
Moral of the story,Internet is powerful, having said that powers of Aunties can never never be discounted as well and now I am rather convinced that here in my home state "Penang" Pakatan Rakyat under the DAP will still win the next General Election, don't believe me, all you need to do is hear it from the aunties. They will tell you this," Ah Eng (Ah Eng is a moniker used referring to our Chief Minister of Penang) is so good," Ah Eng has made Penang so clean already" and all the goods about Ah Eng.
By the way, I have switched to Massimo bread too,cos I like the color, the quality and particularly the price, I am not boycotting, I am just being smart consumer, that's all.
P/S : Never belittle anybody,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Yea, Internet is important these days.. young and old also want to learn.. hehe :P
ReplyDeleteBread or Ah Eng, we should never let our government filter or censor internet or any media as we can never trust our government.
ReplyDeleteBut I do notice our government do censor oppositions' websites during recent election.
Don't small look aunties and uncles, they eat salt more than we eat rice.
ReplyDeleteYour Ah Eng koko will be tua boh Eng in a couple of months if the rumours are true.
ReplyDeleteWow...she is really updated.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Eugene! Haha
ReplyDeleteOmigosh you mom is so updated! indeed internet plays a very important role in today's society.
Just that people really need to share information responsibly and do not abuse the usage of internet.
hoho cant wait for general election xD
I still can't find that brand ever since I heard so much about it. It appear to be a good value for money,as it is cheaper and weight more right? Did it taste as good as the other brand?
ReplyDeleteSometimes we cannot blindly be faithful to a certain brand even though we have "eaten" eat for years.
One thing for sure after 54 years certain bread has already turn stale don't you think? It's time to go for a new brand of bread now. GE 13 I am waiting.
Some are fearing the Internet while most of us welcome it anytime.. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have been having Massimo since our friend recommended it to us 6 months ago..
ReplyDeleteMaybe your mum might surprised you when she said she like that love song in ghost story called 'ah cheng bay loti' (Unchained melody).
ReplyDeleteI try to buy m bread whenever I can, nut admittedly sometimes when I wanna buy bread the shop don't sell it and I end up buying G bread still... And yes, I believe ah eng is doing a great job! Hope the next election pakatan win back perak, keep selangor kedah kelantan and Terengganu...
ReplyDeletehahaha! Aunties are knowledgeable nowadays. :p They know more things that you.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you, Euqene

p/s: I read every posts of yours. And I only comment once a while. Or perhaps once in a blue moon. :P
2 thing... first, admit the power of internet... second, admit the better quality of the M bread comparing to the rest..
ReplyDeleteLOL!~
while you're at it, may consider buying drinks that don't start with P, M, R, T or 7.

Just came back from a coffee break with my customer,as I passed by, I saw a friend, with him on the table was a green load of Massimo bread, jokingly, I said,"so you are going on crusade too ka, Wong?" he laughed and said this back to me," I just want to show my displeasure to certain things, and to also show someone, who is the BOSS" we both had a laugh
