We blame everyone else,except ourselves......

I overheard this conversation between two parents the other day," I don't know what the teachers are doing, my son's results never seem to improve, his Malay is so bad and I think the teacher who teaches him don't know how to teach one lah"

If you have school growing children, the above "conversation" is nothing new,you must have heard it umpteen times, they blame the teachers, they blame the school, they blame everything else but themselves.

I've got a good friend who used to complain this to me," Despite the fact that I spend about RM700 a month sending my boy for tuition classes,no improvement,I keep changing tuition centers also no use." Then I remember one day I sarcastically told him,"could the problem be because of you,not your son,not the school, not teachers" He then asked me why, I said,"could it be because of too much tuition?" Ditto.

Someone who keeps blaming the gomen of this and that but when you ask did he or she register as a voter already, he said,"not yet"

I have learned so much from the comments you guys left for me,I learn from them, I digest them and when I have problem dealing with my children,I reflect on those comments and seek out the faults of mine first.

My Jovial told me that he was scared that he might have problem if Math and Science are taught once again in Malay and I told him,if you could master in English, so can you in Malay and stop blaming anyone else,he might not like hearing it but seriously what choice does he have?

And if you think you are always broke, don't blame anyone else, check yourself first.Let me share this with you,I have got a friend who used to earn 10 X more than I did many years ago,he splurged his wealth away and just the other day he asked me for RM100 and this is the same one who used to call me,"kiam siap" "kedekut" or a miser........I feel sad for him but then again he should not blame anyone else but himself.

P/S : If you think your boss likes the other guy more than you.Could you be the problem ? Do think about it

  1. I dare not blame on teachers.. cos I never teach my kids nor they refer to me when they reached their secondary.. I let them study on their own, of course with the help from the tuition classes.

  3. Yup. Stop complaining. :) My colls were talking abt teaching science n math in english/malay. They seem to be worried. But I personally think that.. either one is ok. As long as you understand the facts. Language is just a bridge to communicate.

  4. Exactly, when we point one finger to others, there are 3 fingers pointing back to ourselves. It is good to know self-reflexion, then we will be a person.

  5. Agree. We should always see things in different angles and not just by blaming others...

  6. Usually those people who likes to blame this, blame that (except blaming themselves!) are talkers, not problem-solvers. And they are the ones who are usually not resilient and break down easily when faced with problems themselves.

  8. I learned to be careful with what I said most of the time, and I also learned not to blame circumstances for whatever things that's going on.

Rather than mourning or trying to point finger, i prefer to spend those energy to actually find a solution for my problems =)

How are you doing already? everything fine?

  9. It's very difficult to change the world, so might as well change ourselves first.

  11. Good one Eugene. Love it especially this sentence - Someone who keeps blaming the gomen of this and that but when you ask did he or she register as a voter already, he said,"not yet". When problem rise, it's always good to look at ourselves before we judge others.

  12. Since I was small, my dad used to tell me the 'finger pointing theory - one finger pointing and 3 finger point backwards to ourself'
That's why when things goes wrong, I'd stop, breath, think and reflect.

  13. All the years studying the subjects in Chinese in SJK primary schools...straight into Form 1, never a problem. When allowed to skip, transition...everyone skipped - parents said could save one year's expenses... Never bothered about whether their children could cope with the change in the medium of instruction or not.

JPA scholars go to study in France, Germany, Poland, Russia...in their alien languages with little of no preparation or exposure and they can cope. The cream of the crop will face any challenge and sail through anytime - only the useless ones will whine like little babies and drop out along the way.

So? Whose kid cannot cope and will have a problem? Whose kid is an idiot? Retard? Come...tell everybody now!

  14. Dont blame on teachers. They cannot help much as there are so many students under them. I believe everything still lie down to the students themselves. And of course parents at the side supporting and reminding them how important education is etc. Tuition is only for those weak subjects only. At the end of the day, want to study or dont want is up to the kids

  15. For me, Less Burden to the kid, more conversation is needed. A little helping hand and caring is very important from parent :)

as long as continue happy living, study will turn to be positive. Erm . . . :X

  17. If we love Malaysia , may be we will learn malay out of respect and patriotism.
But if our politicians made this into a pure political issue for their personal gains, I am not sure I like it.
I agreed, any self motivated kid will have discipline and self initiative to learn anything they want and malay language should not be an issue.
The lazy ones will have a lot of excuses. In my opinion, malay actually is an easy language in comparison to Chinese,Japanese, French, Spanish or Germany.
No one really use these languages in international trade, so I doubt malays will ever be used.

  18. You are right. At times, we overburden our child without thinking the consequences. Similar incident happened with my younger brother who started avoiding going to his tutions on some pretext or another. Finally, I took over his studies and the very next term, he scored so well! That was a lesson learnt for me, and since then, I never force him into anything.
