I received a SMS message from a distant relative, that read something like this..........
Relative : " Eugene, interested to do some business?"
Me : " I am open to ideas..go on"
Relative : "40k for low investment, 180k 4 high investment, money back in six months"
I missed to reply the above message, then another sms ensued.
Relative : "or if can lend me 20k, i return 25k after 4 months"
Me : " That is not a business idea lah and i don't want to be like a loan shark,if you have serious business ideas, therefore it is ok,ya"
There was no further SMSes from him anymore thereafter..................
I have always wanted to be a nice guy possibly the best I can but by being nice guy, i just don't want to be construed as stupid.
One hand you said 40k, 180k with no proper business plan, then suddenly you asked for loan of 20k with such a lucrative return.......sorry i am not that fool hardy and gullible.......
Now I still feel concerned for him, i am worried that this guy could be already in debt and he needed "rescues" to bail himself out and hopefully, it has nothing to do with Ah Longs and prayerfully i hope i am wrong, dead wrong so that he is safe .
P/S : I wish i was wrong and you were right
u didn ask him to email u the business plan??
ReplyDeleteWhat might that biz be? omgawd that amount is not little.
ReplyDeleteSo the business he mentioned is valid or not? Gotto be careful cause it's not some small amount of money...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you made the right choice not to venture into this "business" because like you said, that would make you an ah long, or a fool, or a victim. We had an incident like this in a church, where a good friend of many members started this business plan with few thousands, then gave good returns, and having convinced more ppl, he took more money, until at one stage... he just disappeared.
ReplyDeleteYou take care. Be wise.
The best thing to do now is to ignore. (I mean the SMS and the person)
ReplyDeletesince he is not pressing you further, he should be just want to 'trick' you into it... some ppl may think money comes easier this way..
ReplyDeleteI will probably ignore the sms...
ReplyDeleteI'm done with so called 'business plan' here and there.
ReplyDeletemaybe he has been conned into some get rich quick scheme.
ReplyDeleteask around about him...
ReplyDeleteada udang disebalik maggi mee lo
ReplyDeleteThe biz proposal was a 'borrow mouth' *door opener* to get a loan. Hope and pray you are 'wrong' that he is not in trouble with Ah Longs.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have even bothered to reply the sms, relative or not. If the business plan was that good, why doesn't he/she just invest in it themselves and become rich instead of wanting 'borrow' from you.
ReplyDeleteUnless I'm filthy rich and 40k sounds like 40cents to me, 101% I'm ignoring this person.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to land in trouble later.
Eugene ,run as fast as you can when you hear a friend or relative wants you to invest or do business with them. 99% of the time it will be crashed and burned.
ReplyDeleteAs the English proverb says, "Neither a lender nor a borrower be."
ReplyDeleteBetter dun be lender especially between relative.
ReplyDeleteInvestment in gold perhaps? One month they pay 1.8-2$ i heard and they let u keep the goldbars..
ReplyDeleteif it's too good to be true, it isn't true. Relative or not. :(
ReplyDeleteThank you.........
