Frust betul ...2nd installment

Please let me know if you could share my frustration after reading below........

1) Astro (the ONLY pay TV in Malaysia) was going to increase their fees effective next month.... sigh

2)Astro has the sole license for satellite Pay TV service until year 2017....sigh no 2..

3) India and Indonesia has six satellite TV Channels respectively and one particular Pay TV station only charges about less than RM10 a month for 155 channels.......How much you pay for your Astro? sigh no 3

4)The repetition of the programmes of Astro is sickening....sigh no 4

5)The commercial breaks also very frustrating too, you pay money and you get the same amount of commercial just like the free for all TV stations... sigh no 5

6) If "big big" rain, then you see this, "Nothing" .......sigh no 6

7) If you earn RM2000 a month, and if you pay like RM120 a month for Astro's services, that is taking away 6 % every month from you....sigh no 7

OK, you might say...Eugene nobody asks you to subscribe to Astro what? I agree, totally agree but in this age of globalization, why are we still being "victimized" by the so called monopoly ?

If the gomen really wants us to feel like we are heading to become part of developed country, then i think it must be "fair level" playing field, kan?

By the way, I am seriously considering terminating my Astro service, buy myself a LED TV with HTMI ports, downloads nice nice movies, wire it to my 42 inch LED TV from the hard disk...read the news online, watch my favorite Tennis on line too.......

Note : Can you do without ASTRO?

Have a great weekend and God Bless.

P/S : The money is getting smaller now

Watch utube for some repeat movies (same like atro right?), watch online tv3 on the net. Everything is there. Just hope that government wont limit the internet surfing somemore late... *sigh*

  3. didn't really watch astro. The reason we got astro is that my aunt has retired and she, being a non computer literate person didn't fancy of all the downloading thing...

I can count that we are watching less than 5 channels on Astro...

  5. Sorry to hear about the Malignant 7 sighs and hope you be able to wire whatever LED and transform to Magnificent 7 high. Yes Bananaz can do without Astro coz do not have it in the first place becoz of my square eyes, meaning a TV addict and having it could jeopardize my biz in my SOHO.

  6. I subsribe Astro only because of Playhouse Disney (Disney Junior), Cartoon Network and Disney Channel. To me, I watch PPS only, but also can't find the time to watch nowadays.

  11. In answering your question. Sure, we can survive without ASTRO and up to date, my family never owns one channel and it is far better for us to control our school going children. Without ASTRO, sure you still can read other news or view things from other things like books, internet and newspapers!

In order to boycott ASTRO, stop subscribing it! Come on lah, this is MSIA not any other fast developing country like Spore!!! bear in mind, Bro!

Don't wish to add to your frustrations, Eugene but we have God TV, which is satelite TV with loads of Christian channels.. movies, sermons, documentaries, news, children's programs etc and they're all christian.....and they're all FREE!

  18. what to do , they have the monopoly.
same thing with internet. lousy and slow and they charge us so high.they are not service orientated but money orientated. of course we have the option not to use their service. But then there is no other option to choose so we are stuck with their lousy service. like you said frusted betul.geram some more.

  19. Nope, I NEVER have suscribed to Astro b4, and NEVER planning to do so. The local channel run its Chinese primetime will do enough justice for me.

No complaints whatsoever at this moment.

  20. I AM doing without Astro dude! I have never subscribed to Astro before that's why I crafts alot :P

  21. Astro really monopolize the scene, which is not good.

But it made my parents very happy. Now I'm in kl, but i had astro installed for them in Penang, my father enjoys the live sports, national geographic daily, while mum enjoys the lifestyle channels. Dad actually called me to say he loves the fact astro is 24 hours, meaning when he wakes at 3am in the morning, there are still programmes for him to watch.

Conclusion, I'll still put astro for them. But for myself, I've been living the past 4 years in KL without Astro, survivable. :)

  22. I don't have Astro, never had since Day 1. As for downloading nice nice movies, gomen just blocked file sharing sites so you can't download them anymore. Do I hear Sigh No. 8?

  23. Seriously, I did not subscribe for ASTRO for many years already, don;t think I want to subscribe it in the near future. I do not have the time to watch it and haven't got the money to waste. My household is OK without ASTRO. :D
