This happened just at the wrong time........

My mood was all time low over the weekend due to issue of reunion dinner and how my good intention was badly misinterpreted and distorted.

My intention was for the family to have a simple reunion dinner to foster the bond amongst the family members of which was already not so close and i really thought that a simple reunion could be a time to forgive and forget.

All of us are already in the mid forties(brother and sister alike), sometimes i was just thinking could we just see beyond any misunderstanding rightly or wrongly and start to open ourselves up and embrace one and another like brother and sister should be.

When i was called the unfilial son and not befitting a brother to a sister and i was said to be jealous of one getting the upside than the rest and how i was scorned to be a bad Christian for speaking up the truth, it was just a little to much to handle especially with the CNY just a round the corner.

I am a person with a bigotry teaching of family should always come first no matter what that family should extend help to one another whenever needs arise, it really broke my heart when my sibling bond heading to more damage than otherwise, i tried to come to term with myself that may be some don't think the way i do, it is killing i reckon.

When i broke down in front of my boys, my consolation came from them when my two wonderful boys gave me the pat and hug telling me that "Papa, one day they would understand your intention and to us you are the greatest papa"

Looks like i have to put this malaise to a stop, lest it affects my own family's CNY's....

  3. Eugene, it is their loss for the mis-interpretation. Many years ago, my MIL also misinterpreted my good intention :(

Happy new year to you. May this year brings joy, prosperity and peace to you and your family.

  5. won't be celebrating CNY this year. some ppl in the family make some ridiculous requests for the dinner and there are some that I really don't wish to meet to prevent arguments here and there. Might as go somewhere else.

  8. They say blood is thicker than water...but at times, I do think that water is thicker than blood. I know what it's like and how you feel...sometimes it is out of jealousy, sometimes greed (for family fortune) or sometimes they are just plain mean...but never mind. As long as you have your own family and friends who care - no love lost. Let them say what they want - no point being miserable over it. Nasi sudah menjadi bubur sudah menjadi busuk.

  11. For me, reunion dinner is usually just me, my husband and our two little ones but we try to cook up a storm anyway. The rest of the family, the siblings etc, we meet up with later. If you can't have a big reunion, a little reunion is just as good. Happy CNY!

  12. :) Cheer up. At least you still hv siblings and family.
    心专石穿。谢谢他们给与您的考验。一次失败,并不代表每一次都会失败。不要刻意让感情一迅间提升。 人与人之间的误解,需要时间。我相信总有一天,他们会了解。
    新年快乐!

  14. I have a cousin who is a black sheep of the family. We used to play together during CNY. And he grew up less expectant of his family. And one day he just left. I do not know how damage had been done.

It seems that every CNY we just don't mention about him anymore. It's like he disappear from our lives.

  15. I like what your two lovely sons said, it's just a matter of time before misunderstandings clear up, some take a lifetime but they'll know eventually. Most importanly have a happy CNY with your wife and sons, and let time recover for the rest :)

  19. Sigh, me too is about the same like you. My both parents have passed away. I have 2 brothers, but unfortunately my girls don't recognise their uncles. Very long story, and I don't want to mention anymore. You cheer up. and me too. Happy Chinese New Year to you and your family. Go and have a celebration with your boys and wifey.
