My organs, anyone?

When i was in my teen, i loved this song so much, part of the words go like this "Take this heart, give it to the charity, take this heart give it to the Salvation Army, i dont think i need it anymore" by Ann Murray.

I am an organ donor, and i had pledged that every part of me to be given away should i "Kick the bucket" or due to my untimely departure, there is no point keeping those things when i really dont think i need it anymore.

Give your eyes, so someone would see again, give your heart so that someone would prolong his/hers, give your skin, so someone would feel beautiful again, give your lungs, so someone could breathe again. No matter what, when you dont need anymore, just give.

Please share with me, do you have any qualms of donating your organs to someone in need, or do you believe you should be intact in your original form when you say "Adious" to this life.

P/S : Somewhere and somehow, someone needs you

  3. I've pledged my organs since I was 20 yrs young. Told mom exactly what to do in the event it happens. I love the thought of giving life to others while I am away. Now have to convince hubby that it is really ok to pledge his organs :-)

  5. I signed up as organ donor when I was 20. I pledged to donate evrthing except my cornea at first thinking that I may look ugly when i die without my eyes (especially in the present of my loved ones bereaving me). Later when I found out that my eyelids will still be intact , so is my eyes, (doctors will only remove the cornea), i changed my pledge to donating all the organs that can be donated.

  7. I had often thought about doing it, however I have not always lives the best lifestyle. I would be afraid that my organs would cause them more problems than they would be worth. I would however donate them to science for examination in hopes that someday someone might figure something out because of me.

  9. organ donating is a great thing, but i want to be dead first.
i am not a registered organ donor; i'll leave it up to my family to make that call.
sounds crazy? there is more than one story in indiana, where i'm from, of black people's organs taken before they were dead! that is scary

  10. I'm a donor too... however... i dun think I'm telling that to my mom and dad. They are kind against me getting buried not 'whole' when I die someday.

  11. Eugene, I think Crazy Tom need nt wrry about that issue of organ nt fitting the receipients. coz of all the organs u pledge like cornea, skin, kidney, liver, heart, lungs & wat more, the organ team will take & put in a bank. I'm sure they will check that eveerthing is OK before the transplant is carry out. Just like blood donation. Just make sure all donors carry the donor card in ur wallet for easy identification.
