Of late, I tried to understand that he is so called "in the transition period" from boyhood to manhood, seriously I tried but it is like a period that we both are engaged in a "cold war"....
We seldom talk now, not that we used to, we don't do things together now, not that we used too, so it is all about that he is 16 now.
I do believe that he has got good heart but at the same time, he has some ways need to be corrected too, so how? I can't be harsh,(cos it will back fire), I can't be too soft either.
Please share with me.........
P/S : It is harder than I thought
Reach out and touch... Cannot be stubborn, the more you two pull away, the further you will get and eventually, you'll find you've gone too far to turn back.
ReplyDeleteUnderstand that a growing boy has a mind of his own - even with sensitive issues like religion, race, politics. Give him space - let him have his own ideas...even if he has his views just to be different and to spite you. You may think you are right - he may think otherwise. This can happen.
Pull, don't push...and let go if and when you have to!
Really no idea of how to deal with it. Any activities that both of you can participate together?
ReplyDeleteAgree with STP... at this age, they need privacy on thoughts.. cos at this time, they feel they do not have to "expose" so much to their parents ... i have experienced that.. :)
ReplyDeleteI think things will get better eventually, just hang in there la Eugene!
ReplyDelete....try to include him in as much of your activities as possible. If he is not interested, just give him space. That is what I do with my 15 years old
ReplyDeleteLet him have his way and let him win for now. He will open up and listen to you eventually after all you are still his loving father. I learn this from my friend who pushed and pressured his teenage son until he ran away from home!
ReplyDeleteI not so sure how to advise you but I guess patience and let him understand that you will be always there for him would be good
ReplyDeletebro, i think i agreed with Twilight Man and Rose comments.....Bro no harm to try out this way whether it will help you or not!!!If Lord is in my situation right now, what will he do.....God bless you, bro!!
