Would I do likewise?

This is a quick one before I forget to share.

I was having lunch all by myself this afternoon and I witnessed something that got me thinking,"Would I do the same,if I were her ?"

A lady and her 13 or 14 years old boy, sitting next table to where I was sitting,as I was enjoying my "chicken rice" then I heard this conversation ensued in Hokkien,

The boy," Mom, this Hokkien Mee tasted very bad, the soup so plain, how to eat it lah"
The mother," Never mind son, just put it aside and don't eat it anymore, then go and order something else"

I was really thinking would I do like what she did,"son, put it aside, don't eat it and go and order something else"

Would you do likewise?

P/S : May be my sons should be treated to a "Ethopian" meal one day...

  2. Eat and sure i will ask him to finish up the meal or i will settle the meal all out by myself.Because wasting food is not a good habit.Nevertheless i will promise myself fervently that i will not come back to "kaukuan" her secondly!!!Hahaaaa!!!!

  3. Life is short. If the taste of the food is really bad, then by all means just leave it. No point forcing oneself to eat. If one day, when there is no food, then of course at that time in order to survive, anything edible (without much taste) have to be eaten if one really wants to live. But it has not come to that point yet. This is not consider wasting because one did not purposely set up to waste the food.

Perhaps the mee has really gone bad, in which case consuming the food will be harmful to health.

  6. I usually tell my sons, don't complaint, just eat what is before you. If it's not nice , eat lesser. there are less fortunate people without food.

  7. It's bad to waste food. When my kids complain the food is tasteless or what-so-ever, I usually exchange mine with theirs. I don't like to waste unless we over-order and are really full (which is rarely happen), or the food is really terrible!

Agree with Johnnie, if it's not nice, eat lesser :)

  9. I won't do like what the woman did. It's not good to waste food just because it tastes bland, after all, the food is already bought. It's like throwing away money and money don't grow on trees. I'll tell my son to finish up the food anyway. Next time, I won't buy from this seller anymore.

  12. I read somewhere they said one calorie of food takes about 10 calories of energy to produce it.

  13. If the food tasted bad, I would add plenty of kicap and sauces until it tasted bearable to get down my throat. LOL
