As I was waiting to pick Jovial up from school today, to while away my waiting, I would mingle with those parents doing the same like I do but today it was kind of different, when what I saw and what I heard, piqued my curiousness and my concern.
There was this couple on a motorbike, have seen the girl before (last year still donning the pinafore but she looked different today, with the tummy a little bulging out. When they have sped off, I asked one of the parents whether or not this boy or girl were still studying, to my surprise, I was told, the girl got impregnated by the boy and both were expelled, she's 16, he's 17. (I guess they were happy to be young parent, seeing them so happy and chatty)
They say, time has changed, children mature faster than we expect them to be and with the onslaught of internet, they are being bombarded and inundated with "sex",the good and the bad of it but most of often the bad of it supersedes the good.
I remember just last week, I was talking to Marvell's former teacher and what she told me was something I felt really interesting, she said when her boy reached the age of 17, she would even prepare her boy with "condoms" when she found out that if he had a girlfriend already, just to prevent "the accident"
Many of my friends had been saying the same to me too that we should talk to our boys of the use of condoms when they reach the age of "sexablity", what do you think, folks?
You know last week, I was talking to a dear friend's son,(age 15) I was talking to him about the BGR (boy and girl relationship) I asked him if one day if his girlfriend asked him to have sex with him (okay he has got a girlfriend already),would he do it, he said he didn't lnow,as I probed, he said he would but he was afraid of the "accident" then I said what if he had the excess to condoms, would he do it, he said he would. Ditto.
I am keeping my finger cross cos my time will come and I hope and pray that those "lessons" that I have shared with my boys about "sex" will reap the good sides of it.
It is good to teach our children the ways of the LORD
