An old folk once told me, go on and treat your father and mother bad and make sure you do it in front of your own children,so when you are old, infirm and feeble, you shall be treated likewise the way you once treated your parents.
A sudden thought resulting from a front page of news gracing in one Chinese daily I read this morning," 15 children left an old lady in General Hospital and none came to see her thereafter"
I was moved when a blogger friend told me that he practically had no time in the morning because he needed to attend to his bed ridden mother..........
And I have a friend who stopped talking to his mother for over 5 years despite the fact that they stay in less than 10 km in radius,( I don't know the reason) but can't we see beyond ourselves?
I don't believe in karma personally but I do believe in doing good.
P/S : You shall all be old one day,by then,it is no longer about money, it is about some touches, that's all
What goes around comes around...and yes, the kids learn a lot more than one would think from the parents - including their prejudices, their attitudes, the language they use and the way they speak, their manners and mannerisms, everything...and sadly, many parents are too blind to realise that and they blame everybody but themselves when things turn out not quite right.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes hope so much that karma is true. I hate people who has no filial piety to their own parents.
ReplyDeleteAs written in the Bible.. Honour thy father and mother...
ReplyDeletePeople say, a parents can raise 5 children, but 5 children cannot take care of their own parents, sigh.
ReplyDeleteThis is Human . . . If it wont happen when the children become elder. It will happen in another life as in reversal style . . .
ReplyDeleteLife is like a boomerang its gonna come back to you good or bad. You're talking of the same bed ridden mama across the South China Sea?
ReplyDeleteHonor your father and your mother, so that you may live long Exodus 20: 12.
ReplyDeleteif they mistreat their parent not only they will reap what they sow, their lives will be shorten too as shown in God's word.
monkey see, monkey do. in the household or office environment is the same. if u hv poor leadership, u hv poor workers. if u always curse ppl, i m sure ur kiddo will also follow. we all learn from observing. just look at ladies. once a fashion is in..every lady seem to want it right..like a Coach season, then LV, then fitflop..and what not...
ReplyDeleteYup, honor thy father and mother.... Whether its karma or not, as simple as that.
ReplyDeleteWhen a baby is born, they are like blank sheet of paper which experience subsequently writes.
ReplyDeletei too knew someone, he is no longer here and when he died, none of his children were there. This kind of situation may leaves us feeling very uncomfortable. Some spiritual gurus say that reincarnation is an equalizer that benefits everyone, if you're an aggressor in past lives, you will become a victim in this life, even if not, it will be still be carried forward to subsequent lives..but i really dont know...yeah, just do good.
ReplyDeleteI believe our children emulate us. They learn from what we do. If we are uncaring, they might turn out just the same like us, or worse but if we are lucky, they won't.
ReplyDeleteI believe it's our duty and not others to make sure our own children grow up to be decent human beings and respectful towards others.
I believe in “bai xing xiao wei xian” (filial piety ranks the top in all behavior):)
ReplyDeleteI dun 100% believe in karma but I 100% believe our children will learn the way how to treat our parent.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reminding us of the importance of filial piety via this short, meaningful and powerful post.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and yours always!
Keep on blogging!
Cheers
It is ironic that a parent's love towards a child is unconditional but a child's love towards a parent is not always the case. And the cycle is repeated when the child becomes a parent. Food for thought.
ReplyDeleteKarma is real. We reap the seeds we sowed and sow the seeds that we'll reap. Karma, good or bad, doesn't disappear nor diminish. What we do or did will come back to haunt or reward us. Therefore, we are very lucky that we are able to choose to do good in this lifetime. My two cents.
Yes! Never treat your parents badly if you do not want your children to do that to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you guys
ReplyDeletei don't believe in karma too... but i believe in reaping what we sow :D
