Caught with the comments.........................

It really piqued me the other day, when I saw some teens fiddling with their I pad and some smart phones and suddenly I heard this," damn sien lah,I updated my facebook and until now still no comments?" and it got me thinking of this.........

I was like that girl too when I first started blogging, once updated a post, incessantly I would just turn on my blog to check if there were any comments and initially courting comments was like my ardour duty and when I saw someone's blogs that could garner over 30 or 40 or even 100 of comments,I was like how did they do it and why can't I do it?

I am sure, you were like me once but then again you are like me too now as we keep blogging and enjoy the fun of doing it,oblivious to the number of comments left in our posts.........then again, sincerely thank you to those who keep coming back and keep leaving comments,,I appreciate it.

P/S : The true of of blogging is to keep blogging

  2. To me, most importantly, we blog whatever we want, so that we can read it in the future, and even if there's no comments or very less comments, it won't stop us from blogging, right?

  3. I'm alright if there's no comments...Afterall, why are we blogging for? passion or seeing the numbers of comments.

  4. When i first started, there was no comments at all.. getting 3 to 5 that time made me very happy liow.. hahaha.. but now getting 3 to 5 will make me unhappy.. hahaha.. just kidding... anyway, comments or none, this is just like a public diary to me.. :)

  5. Bananaz had the same experience like Reanaclaire started with 5 comments. Most blogs are interactive where we share ideas, feelings, information etc. But some blogs are like a diary to keep it for future reading like keeping track on the progress of children day by month by year so as to capture those precious moments together.

  6. I always think comments are really non-obligatory. I read loads of blogs and sometimes don't comment.

I don't want to comment just for the sake of it.

  7. What I like about blogging is I'm improving my Englrishe & Chinese everyday, learning html, visiting places virtually and knowing friends. No doubt in exchange for a price of consuming lots of my time doing 'research' and blog hopping learning so much from bloggers and end of the day its worth every byte. Bananaz's motto is 'Never too old to learn' moreover it is good to keep our brain and mind working and that will prevent us from developing Alsheimer it's a bonus.

  8. Hi Eugene, sorry its been ages I didn't here. What can I say, my work demanded my attention...so is life

I also on and off on my blog. I do love blogging very much but I don't have enough time to do it :(

At first, of course I am concern about this comments thing. It was a little bit disappointing when no one drops a comment. But now, I realize it was not about the comments...it is more important you have a good time with your blog and comfortable with what you do...

No comment doesn't mean no one reads your blog right??

  10. I never count my comments. If got comments, good. No comments, it's also okay.

Coz I knew there are silent readers to my blog who are just like me. Sometimes I blog hopped silently to one blog and another..there are times I feel like dropping comments..but there are times I just read without giving comments coz sometimes, other readers already stated what I wanted to comment..or sometimes, I had nothing to comment about. =p

  12. if you truly enjoy blogging, you won't be so much bothered by the number of comments received.

which makes me wonder - why people, after some time, tire of posting?

Eugene, you keep up the good work!

  13. First of wall, the girl is too free and has nothing better to do, only waiting for comment on her wall post in FB.

I comment when I feel like commenting, I blog when I feel like blogging.

  14. Haha, you are right. I think all of us are just social in the inside, we all crave to know what others think, thus the comments. I notice some blogs their comments are high but without substance, and some numbers boosted by the blogger's own comments. Anyway, to each their own... happy blogging... from the heart!

  17. I Must say comments does encourage us. At least we will know people have visited us. If there are none then we might wonder if what we write makes senses at all?
anyway that's just my thoughts. But you seems to have a huge following.
I like Hayley's comments. Make sense too.

  19. Humans are social creatures so we need interaction. That's where comments come in in blogging. I'm okay if there is no comment on my post. In fact, I started the blog to document incidents and to share info. I was thinking, no one would find my blog among the millions out there. I was wrong.

Today, more than 80% of my readers are from search engines. SEO plays a part there. If a blog is monetized or if you are selling a product, it is important that people can reach your blog from the millions out there. Comments? I'm happy just to receive them from my regular readers, which aren't that many - but I'm okay with that.

On the other end, replying to comments, even if not for all, is a good two-way communication. It also spells respect, the way I see it.

    Happy blogging, Eugene!
