We will be someone's in law,one day

Today my in laws are here in town to visit my family, you know every time when I tell my friends, how fortunate that I have a wonderful in laws, they would always reiterate such like this,

"Eugene, sure you can attest that you have wonderful in laws, just because they are staying 800 miles away from you, try living with them under the same roof and see? "

The fact is I really don't live with them and could it be because of that I regard them as wonderful? I don't know but I do know one thing for sure that these in laws of mine really do have good hearts, particularly my father in law.

And I really don't think they would deliberately finding faults with me, if I don't mistreat their beloved daughter or I being a irresponsible husband or scumbag father, for I know no parents would wish for their daughter to get married to a useless scum.

Are you staying with your in laws, got problems?

Anyway, do always pray for your in laws and in return you will be blessed with good relationship with them.... have a great weekend and God Bless.

P/S : Respect is still the key

  1. true, but staying with inlaws are bound to create problems, in fact not just in laws. i think staying in close proximity with any cousins even, may cause friction, we are all humans after all.

It's how we deal with it that matters

  2. I agree with Isaac.

It's not that anybody is finding fault about anyone, but being close and seeing each other everyday, there bound to be disagreement, unhappiness, discontent about some issues. But it is up to us, how we want to deal with it.

  6. I've such wonderful in-laws... They live round the corner from where I live. No problem at all and always there when we need a hand in anything at all.

If you think your wife is good enough for you, what's wrong with your in-laws? The fruit from the same tree... Shouldn't they all be the same...even though there may be one of two rotten ones?

It's all a give-and-take win-win kind of situation. People who have problems with their in-laws should perhaps take one good look at themselves. Takes two hands to clap...

  7. *hope my hubby doesn't read this*

i lived with my in-laws for few months after giving birth.. i love them to bits, but given the chance, i still prefer to stay on our own, even though i don't mind visiting them every day.

i do respect my own SILs cos they could live with my parents for abt 4 & 5 years now, and my parents will be clueless if they and their children were not around. i do not know how they feel inside, i'm sure they prefer to stay on their own, but somehow they managed to live in harmony. like you said, the key is respect, I've never seen them raised their voice or gave sour faces to my parents (with exception to their own HB)..

  16. It's hard to stay with in-laws nowadays. You might never what will happen, but be prepared with unexpected case. I being psycho and even saw with my own eyes during childhood time how my granny treated my mom. Terrible experiences that makes me have fear to stay with in-laws if i get marry in future.

But in another hand I look it positively that after marry standing with own feet is a good practice giving both newly couple to be independent. Raising up own children without both side in-laws interrupting. Yes, when you have problem or u want second opinions you can refer back in-laws anytime. but to maintain good relationship with in-laws better to have some room and space for them =D
