Is it a general perception or a man or a woman's narrow mindedness, if they see a married man and another married woman, that someone they know, talking like good old buddies, laughing away and they thought of something fishy ?
I was with my unit trust agent having coffee yesterday, a lady of whom we have since became good friend, we would meet up in the same coffee shop across my office and that's the only place i find most convenient to meet.
So we were talking business, chatting about family, hers and mine, she being such a jovial type of person and I being such a I reckon easy type of guy, so everytime we meet, there tend to be laughters and some bantering.....I was on the way back to my office, after the business was done, crossed path with a friend.
I stopped and talked to him for a while then sheepishly he asked," Wai, that one your girlfriend, ka, always see the both of you one?" Period
Can I have a good friend who happens to be married and making her my buddy?
I won't give a hoot about all these wrong perception and i won't bother to explain but then again, don't they know if they make such a wrong remarks, it could be detrimental and damaging sometimes.......
Have a great weekend and god bless
P/S : If something is important to you, nothing else matters
Me first!!! Where's my prize? LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteI've lots of married lady friends...not married ones, also got...young ones as well...and guys too, the same. No problem at all. Never mind what people think - it's my life...and as long as I'm not doing anything wrong, who gives a damn what they think? Tsk! Tsk!
ReplyDeleteBut sometimes people start thinking north...south...east...west...as the guy has a reputation and memang ada gaya, ada style. You have? Muahahahaha!!!!
ReplyDeleteya lo. Just don't care la. If really boy and girl friend will sure not meet at the same place lo. :) I mean boy girl friend with married man and married women, hehe! Let them be the way they were. Sometimes we ust can't change others lo. Who cares as long we got lots of friend than worth it la, dear.
ReplyDeleteMe too.. i talk to anyone married or not unmarried.. yes, there are some people who might misunderstand.. cos nowadays extra marital affairs is so common.. so nothing is surprising anymore.. but they ask out of curiousity.. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think if the situation goes like this.
ReplyDeleteBoth are married. Everyday works together, having lunch together, cares for each other, business travel pun together...what do other people think?
A lot of my hiking kakis are married women and I used to pick one of my friend who stayed in klang and sometimes her husband will see her off at the door .My wife knows I goes out with her on our hikes. I see no problem in this. The most important thing is our conscience are clear and our spouces trust us and we do not betray their trust. period. who cares what others think.(they are just like the umno religious guardian prying into people's privacy)
ReplyDeleteof yes I also have young single girls and I do 'date' them occasionally and what's wrong if we laugh and crack a few jokes.?
just an after thought, if next time that friend of yours were to ask , your girlfriend ah. just answer him sarcastically ya la cannot ah?
ReplyDeleteI agree to Angeline, what if 2 married opposite-sex persons see each other 8 hours for 5 days per week, and sometimes go for outing at night or weekends.
ReplyDeleteThese type of ppl spend more time with their so-called good friends compare to their spouses?
Can or not?
....no prob as long as long as both spouses know and trust that they don't do something funny behind their backs. affairs is common nowadays, that's why some people might think towards that direction.
ReplyDeleteAgreee wit you. And if ur partner is the jealous type then u will be a dead meat by now. LOL! But then I can see that ur wife is a very reasoning one and ur fren is a real Kay poh one. :P
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend to you too :)
ReplyDeleteOh like that ah we better not be too close can we stop having kopi or lunch together from now onwards else people say we are gay. hahaha
ReplyDeleteIn these modern times, there should not be malice for married people to be friends with the opposite sex. But it can't be helped that some people are not as open minded. Just ignore them, you know you're not doing anything wrong.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog :)
The Twerp and I
i do not think its an issue :) Friends only, and if our spouse understands, then no issue at all :)
ReplyDeleteThat's people perception. stupid kan? i get that sometimes just for talking to friends who happens to be married, hello we were friends first way before then. ridiculous. like u said, ignore them, as long as we're not doing anything more.
ReplyDeleteDont care for what they think..they might having personal issue. I'm single and I befriended with married, unmarried, old, young, kids and feel ok with it. I dont care what people say because the one I befriended did not say anything..so why bothered? hehe..
ReplyDeleteI am still close to you as I've ever been. And your beloved wife understand our relationship.
ReplyDeleteYour friend could asked out of ignorance or maybe want to kepoh.
You should replied your friend, "Yalor, she's my girlfriend; G-i-r-l f-r-i-e-n-d, mah!
Yeah, most of the time! However, I don't bother as I usually had lunches with a lady friend who's married. Now, pregnant some more but we still got go out for makan. It's just friendship, let's those kaypohs have their thoughts.
ReplyDeleteWe all know many "Afternoon delights" started as mere platonic friends.
ReplyDeleteYeah u can never stop people from gossiping... and yes gossip can sometimes kill! Just be yourself and of cos it's important that your wife trusts u :-)
ReplyDeleteI met several guy friends in the gym too. When we chat, we chat until the whole gym can hear our voice. But, I saw one divorcee chatting with a middle age man ( not sure the marital status), they used to chat softly until the person stood next to them also couldn't hear them. I could sense something fishy between them. Just that kind of feeling. I think it is the way how we present outselves. If nothing wrong, we don't need to care what others think, as long as our spouses trust us.
ReplyDeleteI would say Asian culture and mentality is not as open as western. I understand your situation too. the word "TRUST" is very important in our daily life. We can't stop people's mouth, as long as you're doing right nobody can stop u.. =)
