I remember when My Marvell started learning Chinese calligraphy(actually not started learning,it was compulsory coming from Chinese elementary school)the results had always been less then desirable but this boy of mine has got this trait....................................
The trait of his that never succumbs to the notion of " I can't do it better, no matter how hard i try" So, as far as his "less than desirable" calligraphy pieces of works were concerned, he knew that he could do better each time he moved the brush and dictated the strokes.
With the guidance, motivation and patience from my lovely wife as well, like they say slowly but surely, those "less than desirable" calligraphy works of his are now the distant past.
Just last week, he was sharing with us that his work was chosen to be the best among his peers of the same league and we are indeed very proud of him.If there is one thing i can learn from Marvell, it must be TENACITY..........
He can be the most talkative and boisterous boy in his class but he is the happiest.............
P/S : I am proud and feel blessed to be the father of these two boys..........
Very beautifully written, like professional! And my my, he sure looks like Mommy - you lost, Eugene... hehe

ReplyDeletechinese calligraphy always very meaningful and beautiful. Unfortunately I "ang moh sai" dono how to read mandarin ><
ReplyDeleteVery well written. He balanced the weight of the strokes well. Must be pretty patient when he's writing. My son's calligraphy is horrible, can paste on the wall to ward off evil.
ReplyDeleteGodfather for the benefit of bananas appreciate if you could do a translation plus pinyin, we can only 'kua gian' on the nice writings but dunno the meaning. Kamsia.
ReplyDeleteAwww... thats such a lovely lively smile on Marvell's face! with giant teeth nonetheless, cutest thing ever!
ReplyDeleteI still remember, when I was still a primary school boy that time, I was using those inked calligraphy pen to draw the curve to make it looks nice and pass up to the teacher.
