It was sheer sweet serendipity for me yesterday, someone still recogized me after 23 odd years and i thank God for this meeting, it only means more business coming from her thereafter but i am not sharing about business here, rather i would like to share what took place during that meeting............
I was asking my customer this," Charmaine, who is this Belinda?" she pointed to a lady seated across the room and she said that was her immediate superior, i then walked over to this Belinda's work station and i handed my business card to her, she looked at my card, then she asked did i know a Marina Teoh.
I was like Marina who? sensing my perplexity, she began to supply me with correlated descriptions about who Marina was and how she knew me. It was all dated back 23 years ago when i was 22 years old, Church gatherings, she was brought in by Marina and now the picture was clear.
I was amazed and flattered at the same time, here i was someone could still remember me since we last met 23 years ago. Then the funny part began, she was then telling Charmaine how handsome i was 23 years ago,( I didn't make this up, she said it) i was like suddenly reliving those heyday as she put me up on cloud nine, then suddenly..........
Then suddenly she asked me how old was i now, i said 45, she was like looking at my hairline of which was already receding , my furrows which was spreading and branching out more on my face now like trains chugging away non stop.
Then she said this to Charmaine again, ya Eugene was handsome 23 years ago and i thank God she did not go any further than like ya 23 years ago but i knew what would have come out from her mouth if she were to continue............
That's life isn't it ? Nothing is permanent, not your beauty, not your money, not even your life.......I was watching Channel E the other night,"Stars Then and Now" i was so surprised to look at my once favorites the likes of Mickey Rourke, Bo Derek and more, they look a world apart now...........
Let us find something that's eternal, i've found mine "My Father In Heaven"
Note : Belinda if you happen to read this post, i want to say thank you to you
P/S : Today will never be a Yesterday....Spread some love ya
I can't stand it when I meet people from 30-40 years agao...and they say, "You haven't changed one bit! Still look the same!" Liar...liar!!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful compliment! u know when we ladies met up for a reunion, they also told the same thing.. hey, u havent changed much, still look the same like the school days, only got more lines now.. funnily though, we ladies love to hear that... hahaha..
ReplyDeleteNothing gold can stay...just one line of sentence but God does..
ReplyDeleteYeah, time changes everything... except how the parents' loves and feel for their children...^-^
ReplyDeleteKeep well, " Bu Zai Hu Tian Chang Di Jiu, Zhi Zai Hu Cheng Jing Young You!", at least you were handsome and charm before!;D
I reckon she's not meaning to say that you're looking old or haggard now, Eugene. What she probably meant was that you were WAYYYY TOO CUTE back then! Coz that's what i thought of you :)))
ReplyDeleteYeah this is so right! Nothing lasts forever. That prove we're only a powerless human being, we can't control time ;) Great post!
ReplyDeletewow..fancy someone can recognise you after so long.
ReplyDelete23 years passed and she still remembered you?! Wow, it's a compliment, Eugene~
ReplyDeleteThere must be something special about you that stay in her memory all this long. Plus, she still recognized you, which mean you are more or less still the same as 23 years ago.
good thing she didnt say something like this. you are the guy that broke my heart 23 years ago. ha ha. I am bad at remembering people especially those whom I had not been in touch for ages. usually kids can remember those older than them.
ReplyDeleteThis is a compliment that everyone loves to hear.
