Can't contain my Joy...seriously

As he came out from the school, he said " Papa, i have got good news for you," excitedly i reciprocated." tell me, tell me" then gleefully he said," Papa, my third term examination is out, i am in 11th place in the class and the 25th out of 300 odd students in my whole form."

I gave him a big hug, kissed him on the head and telling him that he deserved it and i was very proud of him...The reason my Jovial was so excited was because he made huge leap from his previous examination and he truly felt the joy of it..

You may think i am a crazy father but i have always attested to the belief that school and study must be filled with love, joy and fun and most of my friends really think i am crazy for i do not send my two wonderful boys for any tuition classes at all.

My Jovial had done badly sometimes, somehow in his one or few of his previous examinations, i have never put him down, demoralized him instead i would always tell him that he could do better than what he did last.

Even if he made a notch up from 42th to 41th in the class, i would give him a pat of the shoulder and say well done my son.

A lot of times i made him feel that he is worthy for he does not go for any tuition class, yet he still manages to fare so much better than his friends that chase after tuition classes.

You may regard me as boasting, indeed i am for i am real proud of my two wondeful boys....

OK, this time is really "see you on Monday" sorry for this impromtu post for i just could not contain my joy. Great weekend ya.

P/S : The final result is.............." papa i am very proud of myself" that to me is No 1

  7. Yes...I always tell my daughter. Never mind what you get...as long as you've tried your best. But if you don't pass, then we'll have to go something about it - maybe go for tuition or if it is not an important/compulsory subject, drop it.

No need to go overboard with exams - so much pressure on the poor kids these days. Pity them - let them enjoy their childhood. And no special treat or presents for good exam results - that is one kind of putting pressure on them.

  8. i feel our school is too exam orientated. Not all those who get number 1 will have a happy and good life.

I have one schoolmate. He was the naughtiest boy in the school. Even got public caning. But then he is doing well now. He had become wealthy and he helping out our school with huge donation and sponsorship

  13. Parents are the happiest when their children make even the slightest achievement. I'll be the same as you if my kids come home and tell me they have improved.

Good job, Jovial and keep the spirit up! Aunty Yvonne give you all the support!

  14. As a parent, praising a child would boost his/her self-esteem no matter how small his/her achievement is. The problem nowadays is that parents are overly focused on having their kids getting strings of A's, or achieving top spots all the time. Poor kid - so young, yet so stressful.

    You're a great parent, bro.
