Our friend............ a con.

Having breadfast this morning and as usual, some breadfast buddies, same venue and some chit-chats. This morning i felt kind of exasperated by a confession made by one of my breadfast buddies, the account of how he was cheated by another coffeshop mate some money, albeit not a lot of it.

The cheater who goes by the name Steven, when i first knew him carried himself well, didn't look a bit of a con man to me as well, though he didn't really join us as often as the rest of my other buddies, but we knew him.

Steven coaxed my friend J into buying a 32" brand new TV which Steven claimed that it was a lucky draw winning from some sources and my friend J thought that it was some thing going for a song, despite J's initial skepticism about the truth of the claim, he chose to trust Steven's story nonetheless as he felt how could a friend cheat another friend with that amount of money.

A deal was finally struck, and suddenly J found out that the so called brand new TV he bought from Steven was in actual fact a second hand unit and this model is an obsolete model when he enquired from some electrical shops with the corresponding model number. J gave another friend a ill gotten windfall of about RM 800.

The reason J shared this with me was with the intention that he didn't want me to be duped into another trap set up by another friend. Cheekily i told J that he was partly to be blamed as well, simply because he didn't firstly check the good upon receiving it, and he argued that he didn't so because he trusted a friend.

And now my friend J is on the crusade of telling his story to friends in our so circle to prevent other from being conned. A good deed indeed.

Q)Do you really think that sometimes we can be so gullible all in all in the name of TRUST and have you ever been conned by a dear friend?

P/S : God gave us wisdom but most of the times it is overruled by the heart.

  1. Many cases, cheating is always done by people we know. Yes, misused of TRUST! But these people can only use this trick once. And he shall lose all his friends sooner or later. Price to pay.

  4. The conman will lose his TRUST and FRIENDS sooner or later. This is really bad. $$$ is both angel and evil.

  9. There used to be a time when the chinese sealed deals over a cup of tea and a handshake. It's sad that those days are over.
