It 's about you and no one else

The other day, I bumped into a friend in a coffee shop, instead of the normal exchange of niceties, he began by saying this to me," You "teruk " lah, how can an uncle like you dare to wear a pink short pants." I was like,"did you pay me not to wear pink short pants ? "

You know I met a wonderful lady from a dear friend's wedding the last weekend, she was originally from Penang but she'd been staying in Melbourne for over 35 years already, over the chat, I casually asked her,did she ever think of relocating to Penang, surprisingly and adamantly she said,"No way"

I then asked her why that she was so certain that returning to her good hometown of Penang never crossed her mind, plainly she said, she was happy there instead of here. Nobody would ever point a finger at her of the way she chose to dress but here is different. She can "bling bling" all that she wants and nobody would give her a stare.

Sometimes I really think we would miss out on LIFE,if we care so much of how people judge us,how would people think of us, we are so scared that people would laugh at us,if we behave otherwise than the norm.

We get stuck in a "dead relationship" because we are so afraid that people might think we are a "tramp" if we keep searching for one true love.

I like to dance very much and I really don't care if people were to give me the "one kind" look,"aiseh man, uncle like him also wants to shake like that" I just don't care, I love to wear outrageous colors paint, I like pink and red pants and I don't give a hoot of what others think of my fashion sense.

I like to run and sometimes I like to run bare chested and I don't care if people say as if I like to show off my body or whatever,(not that I have a body that you'd drool over) it is just that I like that feeling of care freeness.

Take fashion for an example,do you dress to feel good about yourself or do you dress up to make others feel good about you? Think about it ya......
I like this lady already at the first greeting she extended to me..Thank you for sharing Imey......

P/S : Our lives are not to be ruled by "KPCs"

  1. I never bother about what other people think about my dressing! As long I feel comfortable and good, that is matter!

  2. Eugene, you're doing the right thing! People who follow their hearts will be happy & fulfilled and more likely to be in the PINK of health!

As Steve Job once said "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life."

There are many people out there who just let the noise of others opinions drown their own inner voice.

  4. Eugene,
Be youself and if wearing pink makes you feel good, then by all means do it. Why people are so keh poh wan? If they dont dare to wear, why must they judge others who does?

As long as we feel comfortable, we can dress however we want.

  6. I get that often. some even remarked harshly about my 'slutty' dressing just because i am wearing mini skirts and sleeveless top with heels. oh come on..if I had to follow their fashion sense, even my mother look much more better. hahahahaha~

dress what you want, it's not them who pays for it right?

ps: I love pink too! too bad my bf doesn't. =p

  10. Agreed. Ignorance is bliss then again if carry on for too long, we eventually learn not to care about other people's opinion anymore. What matters is what we think and what we want.

there's truth in what you shared and i do agree with every bit of it. just dont over do it ^^

  11. We don't live under people dogma - Steve Jobs. Eugene, as long as I feel good, I won't really care about others too. I am as courageous as you too in fashion.

  12. Wear away, dance away and bare away! Life is really too short to be limited by other people's inhibitions.

  16. Everyone has the right to their own opinions. If they think, the pink, orange or yellow is too loud, ask them to buzz off!

I can be a in pink today and tomorrow be in yellow totally.

  18. I am a Penang kia like you, living in KL since 1993. I do see some difference between KL and Penang folks although the towns are just mere 3.5 hours drive apart. Food, culture and dressing is different. I guess the people in KL tend to dress more kinky and fashionable but I am still conservative in my heart. I will migrate back to PG for retirement and be your neighbour!

  20. Three cheers for dressing up for yourself and not like how people would want to see you. I too dress up for myself and for those who have a problem with that...well, it's 'their' problem, ain't it? :)
