Is it a good advice?

I was passing through a restaurant in a hotel en route to a Christmas dinner, as I jostled through the crowd I heard this conversation, that restaurant was serving a Christmas buffet dinner

The mother was busy putting all sorts of food on her boy's plate.......................

The boy," Mom, why you give me so much food,I don't think I can finish it"
The mom,"Never mind, just eat,if you can't finish, can throw it aside, you must try everything here for we have paid so much for the buffet already."

I remember when I was small,my father used to scold me when he saw that I have leftovers on my plate, he would get very mad at me for wasting food.........................sometimes right until now even my boys would "alert " me if they saw a little specks of rice left on my plate.

P/S : Waste not even if you can afford

  1. At times I cannot finish my food.. that is why i prefer to share out my portion of my meals but my friends always blamed me for fattening them up instead... in buffets, I take very small portions each time, if i put too much on my plate, I dont feel like eating.. :)

  2. I thought they charge RM10 for every 100 gms of leftovers at hotels? I can easily guess what race that was - so kiasu! Only "generous" when it's free, otherwise they will grumble down to the very last sen, you will never hear the end of it!

  3. Yes they should charge them for the leftover food. Another bad habit is my mom use to take full plate of food to be shared with us, but she never think whether we actually can finish it or not. It's always better not to share. You take and finish your plate.

  4. Bad Bad Bad advice. My mama would used the reverse way putting fear in us not to waste food (*applicable then but not now). The plate must be completely clean not even a single grain of rice else will marry an ugly wife with lots of pimples equivalent to the number of grains leftover. She may not be entirely right in her way but the 'no wasting thought' worked on us even up till today.

  6. No, I would never say that to my girls. When we had buffet, I always reminded them to only take her portion, and they must finish their food, before they are allowed to go getting other food.

  7. Wasting food is bad...ah we are all wasting all kinds of resources all the times. Ha Ha, Ha...How much energy have I wasted on internet responding to Eugene's posts? May be all the energy I wasted on internet is enough to power a small school in the village.

  8. This is the 'mindset' when people going to a buffet meal.
But we got to learn to not waste food no matter what.

  9. I do not encourage wastage on food. I only take whatever I can finish and say the same to my kids.

  10. That's a bad advice. Should show the mom the video of African kids.
