I am a Christian and I am a son too..............

Monday to Friday is working day, Saturday morning is the time I reserved for me and my lovely wife that the time we both enjoy tremendously that we both would wake at 5 am head on to Botanical Garden and start running till like 8 am and then we both "just the two of us" would go for our breakfast.

When a friend jokingly teased me with something like this," what lah you and what kind of Christian are you?' when  I told him that I hardly go to the church on Sunday.........I just took that teasing as a pinch of salt lah......

Indeed I am a Christian and I love God too but then again as I am still on earth and as I am still a son to a mother, I think the onus is on me is to be a 'real son" and I know that  there is just a little thing that I could do just to be a "real son" and when I say "just a little thing' I really mean it.

I know my mom would be happy when on Sunday mornings if I would to take her to her "old kampung" for breakfast, for there she would meet a lot of her old friends, for there she would love to buy stuff from her usual vendors when all these vendors would greet my mom and sometimes praise her like this," wa ! auntie, you still look strong for your age lah"

And I know she would be happy when she would "show case' me to her friends and when her friends respond 'You are so "ho mia lah" your son is so filial " then I would look at her face, she would have this smile of "contentment"

You see my mom is not a Christian yet and I can't tell her that I cannot take her for breakfast on Sunday because I need to go to Church.

Sure,I can take her for lunches and dinners but we will never understand how old folks would feel when you take them back to their "old kampung" and Sunday morning breakfast at her "old kampung" rightly or wrongly can be her contentment.

I do spend my time talking to My Lord in the early hours of the mornings and I am sure he understands me more than anyone else......

P/S : In her living years,,, do what I can

  1. Going to church every Sunday alone won't make you a real Christian. We are not saved by our good works and I know you know that better than i do. What you are doing is an act of love and kindness to your mom which the Lord wants us to do. It's our testimony that will lead people to Christ. How we communicate with people and how we are living our life. Keep giving your mom the love of Christ that is in you and i'll pray that one day you and your family together with your mom will be going to church every Sunday. God bless your heart and keep the fire burning :)

  3. I am also a Buddhist, who only go to "chanting" session once a month. I always believe, helping hands are better than praying lips.

    1. Ultimately it is the hearts that matters, isn't it, we can show up in all full glory in the church, burning the tallest josstick but as far as the heart is concerned, what good it is if it is bad bad bad,,,

  5. Eugene, I like the way you live your life. Being a good devotee doesn't mean you have to be at the church/temple or whatsoever on certain days. In life we have so many choices, make the right one with our wisdom. Religions should be practiced in our daily life. 活在当下,就好。 I respect you and you're inspiring everyone to be a better person.

  6. I might not be in the position to comment much on religion as I am that prodigal son that is still happy wandering in the wilderness ...hehehe, but over the years, I have got disheartened over many `so called very religious brothers and sisters' who diligently stands up in the Sunday service and rattle one of those `powerfully worded' prayers, shared equally touching testimonies and yet get caught in the never ending `power struggle' and `church politics'...I believe it is not where you pray that matters, more importantly, it is where it comes from ...

    1. I agree with you,, it is personal as far as our relationship with the almighty is concerned, even though sometimes we need to have fellowship with others,

  7. I seldom go to temples or chanting classes either, Eugene. I always believe to live our life by keeping a kind heart and words, and do not do wrong to others.

  10. Well, maybe can try to attend the Saturday service instead :D

We are called to gather with our fellow Christian, to strengthen one another's faith in Him.

I am fortunate enough, I can spend my Sunday with my parents in church :D

  12. Nothing against christians, but 99% of all these church people make me sad how narrow minded these people are and whether their narrow mindedness is what steering them to christianity.
