You Jump , I No Jump

Every time when i hear cases of teen suicides, it keeps me wondering why it is so rampant now or rather what has actually gone wrong with us, with the society or with teens themselves? I really don't know.Link
As a parent, I am scared too, I am scared if i have not really fully open the DOOR of communication to my boys, I am scared, would they come to me to talk about their problems, I am scared would they be influenced by their CYBER friends that will lead them astray...........

Sometimes i really wonder,as parent, do we tell our children that it is ok to fail sometimes, it is ok if you are not handsome, not pretty, not so smart than the girl or the guy next to you, do we tell our children that "They are special, just the way they are".

Or we (the parent) are just too busy making money, thus lavish them with the latest gadgets and we thought that it was already suffice being just that without spending time with them, without syncing with their world, without hearing them out and without giving them the shoulders when they need one.

Sometimes, when i read through those messages that those teens left in their FaceBook, it really scares the hell out of me, messages like," If my BF abandons, i rather die" "which way to die is better, jump or take weed killer" " Life sucks, no meaning at all" blah blah blah.

We actually can't blame them, they too need the avenues to vend out their frustration just like us adults but sadly they are being shown the wrong ways to do it.............

God help our children..........孩子,你是最美丽的......

P/S : You are Beautiful Just the Way You Are

  1. After parent did our part, the child themselve also need to do their part. Communications works both way. Some parent treat the child too nice also will make children too protected, and when problem/ obstacles comes, they do not know how to handle therefore may choose the wrong path. However, what I want to tell all children is, live with it and you certainly will overcome all. Agree?

  3. which is why the more you need to talk to them... open them up... open their mind... if not they will be just locked up and insecure.

  4. I was talking about this news with my hubb last night, sigh, why teenagers these days see life as something so cheap?? And why they have so much 'courage' to commit suicide? =_=

  6. Not easy for a sane person to jump off like that. Heard from a colleague, her fried took "kopi-o" aka week killer and later regretted and dont wanna die but too late all her internal organs were damaged and she really suffered. Suicide only triggers at the spur of moment. That's is why insurance companies will pay the proceeds for suicide but T&C says upon death after 12 months. The insurance companies betul betul 'calculate dead grass' and they know pretty well no sane person will commit suicide after a year.

  8. It's the silent ones we gotta watchout. Those leaving msg in FB and whatnot mostly wont do it. It's a way to gain attention. But if no attention given then they might do it. It's really sad to see them. Like they have no family and friend which they can talk about their problem

  9. Parental pressure. I saw in today's newspaper...some SMJK school,m student jump down the school building. Can't read...so dunno where, dunno why...could only read SPM 7A.... I hope the parents feel guilty and the other parents will come to their senses...

Always tell my daughter- if one door closes, there are many others to open. No problem's too big to solve...and not all top students are more successful in life than the dropouts.

  10. I believe most parents try their best to communicate and educate their children since young. Somehow, somewhere, something goes wrong and the children end up problematic. Both parties have to hold the responsiblity.

While we adults look at things differently (and maturely), children tend to make a mountain out of a molehill.

  13. Thing that we think is a matter now, we sure laugh at it when we think of it 1 year later. We just don't aware of it now. Sigh..... kids nowadays....sigh....parents nowadays have tougher life.

  14. youngster nowadays are not made to go through 'tough' life.. so some small 'matter' they will try to end their life... no choice, some parents are just over protective and never let the child fall..

  15. Wht actually gone wrong?!! Pressure frm the society? Stresses frm parents or school?!! I reckon it's the selfishness of the kids him/ herself... thy didn't realise their problem didn't end there, thy still leave their parents or ppl ard with regrets and troubles, those who suffer after thm!

  16. Hi Eugene, sad to read about this. I believe society and parents are to be blamed.
Especially parents putting stress on their kids to excel.
I read about Singapore, China and Japan's kids taking their own lives. Pity.
    Best regards.
    Lee.

  18. Family bonding is important. You already established a strong bond with your kids so no need to worry. We can only pray that the youths nowadays will seek the correct path and know where is the correct channel to turn to whenever they are down / frustrated.
