and I love her........

I was having lunch with my lady friend a few weeks ago and she just got to know that i was a Christian then suddenly, albeit jokingly she said this to me," Eugene, you Christian no good one lah"I was like what you were saying dear?..........

Then she continued her side of defense and telling me that her friend dumped her fiance of 5 years when she started going to church, just because her fiance refused to be converted to Christianity like she did and her church so called leaders kind of hinted that it was not right to be in union with some one of different faith.

Her side of story reminded me of my own predicament 15 years ago but thank God I was not stupid to dump my girlfriend (now my lovely wife) just because someone from the church telling me that "i was not supposed to be in union with someone of different faith"

I truly believe God works in his marvelous and mysterious ways but sadly men always try to play God and as if that is not enough, they even try to impose what they term as heavenly and divine conditions to others and this happens to all kind of faiths as well.

As we continued our chat, she told me that her girlfriend eventually married a guy from the church and her friend confided in her that her marriage was not as "heavenly" as it should be but they still act as loving couple comes "every Sunday" if you know what i mean?

I loved my wife even when she was not of the same faith as i was and i would still love her now that she is of the same faith like i am.......

  1. when my best friend started dating this one nice guy, her main concern is that she was a catholic (just like me) and the guy is one of the members of another church denomination (forgot what's its called). She had was pressured from friends and family members (she's an active member of the church somemore), and he at the same time had the same problem...all with the same "you are not supposed to be in union with someone of different faith" thing.

there are ups and downs, confusions and so much more...but in the end, now they both happily married couple and I am happy for both of them. both still attended different churches, but that hasn't change the love they had for each other. (and yes, those ppl are still talking about their differences)

  2. True love last forever. Just like Prince Charles and Camilla. Passing through so many obstacles, still last until today.

  3. it all depends on individual, can not blame anyone, no single union is a fairy tale.

  4. it's not that you cannot be in union with those of different faith, it's that if you want to be in union with them, you have to be the rock, not the reed. :-)

  5. Conversion must be based on faith and belief...not just because one wants to get married to somebody of that religion. The Catholic church here allows mixed marriages...and if the other party wants to convert, he/she will have to attend classes and pass the tests first. The seed must be planted on good soil...Re. The Parable of the Sower.

  6. Love our spouses for who they are, not their faith and belief.

  10. Well Eugene, Love is blind, but marriage give her sight. it takes both to make a marriage work. Not every one is as blessed as you. Most people have problems with their marrige because they choose to marry someone out of their faith.

  11. It is kind of sad when this happens.. if we know this before we get involved with anyone, then it wont be so painful.. but if we break off with someone bec of this verse, then it is hurting..

  12. There's a part of the bible that says it is okay to marry someone who is not same faith as you are. I am not quite sure which verse liao.

I am a Catholic. My husband is not even a Christian, and yet we still can live together. I don't see any problems. And as for the anak following which religion, all these while I instill Christian values in him... it is up to him to choose when he grows up. I wonder if this is wrong?

  14. It's sad when you have to convert to other religion just because you want to be united.
