Back then, i was "free loadering" on Mr Ong's genoresity (seriously there was not even once i had to pay for drinks nor the girls) and he always said this to me back then, " when a man has money, he has clout over many many things) back then he was my idol, he regarded me as his little brother,,(we are ten years apart).......... somehow we lost touch, when he began his other businesses, that was back then.
I stood up, walked over to his table and said," Is that you Mr Ong?" before he answered, he looked up and didn't say anything(may be it made it hard for him to recognise me with my clean shaven head), my instinct spurred me to quickly identify myself. " I am Eugene lah." coldly he acknowledged "Ya Eugene" i asked if i could sit down with him, he nodded.
He looked so frail, his charm was lost, his sportiness was dissapeared and his sense of humor was replaced with forlornness. He felt uneasy sharing the same table with him, quickly he managed a rigid smile and telling me that he had to leave even before i could chat him up further, quickly i asked for his phone number, he said none, instead i gave me my call card.....................i could not believe it that i sat now with him for less than 3 minutes and he said he had to leave.
I am hoping that he would call me, as i really wanted to know what'd happened to my idol "Mr Ong"could he be sick?
P/S : It's funny how people change suddenly so drastically
sometime our直肠直肚hurting others that we may not notice?? or, sometime people used to listen rumors without further investigation? anyway, i hope he is ok, not because sickness.....
ReplyDeletePerhaps he is undergoing some turbulent phase in his life. :(
ReplyDeletePeople changed bro. Perhaps...something had happened?
Time takes its toll on certain people. I guess if I bump into my old friends they will be thinking the same thing about me too. Sobs!!! Now look what you've done - you've made me so miserable! Bwahuhuhuhuhu!!!!
ReplyDeletewell, people change..
ReplyDeletePeople dont really changed, circumstances that changed and then it ensure us to change as well. Those thing that you said about Mr. Ong is indeed still somewhere inside of him, its just that circumstances changed.
ReplyDeletepeople changed....i saw how ppl changed..but cant blame them...maybe they will go crazy if they dont change. How's the idiot?
ReplyDeleteHmm, perhaps he's sick? and he doesnt want you to see his situation now.. give him some times, he may not alright...
ReplyDeleteYeah, many folks just changed over time like that. Maybe...it could be due to circumstances like stress, family, disease, financial..etc?
ReplyDeleteeverything changes over time.
ReplyDeletepeople do change la..n they change faster if there was a crisis... go figure
ReplyDeleteI hope he calls. I'm also curious to know what had happen to him.
ReplyDeletePhases of life, sigh. I hope he calls coz I"m eager to know what happened to the man you once knew.
ReplyDeleteyes, he is embarrassed to see u.. and before u probed, he vanished first.. something must be wrong..
ReplyDeleteTime is a legal thief. That's all I can say here.
ReplyDeletesigh.. something's definitely not right for him to leave in a huff like dat.. :(
ReplyDeleteSeems like he definitely experienced some life changing events. If he had treated you like a brother, here's a chance for you to reciprocate his kindness. Let's just hope it's not any illnesses that he's battling.
ReplyDeleteit's unlikely that the drastic change came about suddenly. after all, you have not seen him for years.
ReplyDeletedaniel chiam said it well - it's the circumstances that change us. humans don't usually embrace change voluntarily.
