I am not that smart after all...sigh.................

There is a moment in the evening that i would take it as mandatory as far as i am concerned to allot an hour or so to sit down with both my wonderful sons, coaching them and teaching them with their school works and i truly enjoy these moments.

Just the other night, i sat down with my Jovial (who is in secondary 1 ) with his BM home work, i asked him to finish the twenty questions, then i would mark them for him. So as soon as he finished doing it, the following conversation ensued between papa and the son.

Papa," Jo, you finished the twenty questions?
Jo, " Yes papa."
Papa, " Let me mark them for you,ok" then i started marking them one by one.

Jo," Papa, you really dont need to refer to answers at the back meh?"
Papa, " No need Jo, i am good as far as BM is concerned and these question are like pintch of salt to me." proudly i exclaimed.

After finished marking, Jo seemed not so convinced with my ability and he insisted that i cross check the answers.

Jo," Papa, please check with the answers at the back lah just to make sure you are right,ok?
Papa," Jo, i told you i was good, no need to cross check lah."
Jo, " Please lah papa, pleaseeeeeeee." i gave in.

Then i started checking one by one. right up untill the eleventh questions, i was all correct.

Jo," Wa, papa you are good lah, so far all correct and you are so clever lah,"
Papa," Sure, i am clever , i am your papa ma." proudly and scartically i responded.

When i continued cross checking the remaining 9 questions, i was correct only 6 out of 9.

At this juncture i could see Jo was smirking away, and i asked why was him smirking.

Jo," Papa, you are not that smart after all, right?" I was floored with humiliation with his funny look, then i shot back.
Papa," Yes son, i am not that smart after all and i am only human, i do make mistakes. and you too are human and you too tend to make mistakes, right?"

Innocently, Jovial nodded. and i triumphed over my own flaw,,deep inside me,i was laughing away, how i could i be so vain,,,hahahahahahahahahha

P/S : Time spent with a child, is time spent worthwhile

  3. BM is ok for me too, as long there is no reference to the current government's policy embedded in it. Try Moral; now that can drive you mental . I wonder if they still have that in the sylabus.

  15. To me I think I will not talk in such a "自负" kind of way to my dotter in future, as I do not want she behaves this way no matter she is talking us or to her friends. Well, our children is always the "mirrored" of us.
