The Heat is On.....

Woke up at 5.30 this morning, checked on my youngest son Marvell, touched his forehead and took a body tempt check on him, it showed 38.2 C, immediately i told my wife that i would not be sending him to school today, he is down and out at least for today.

As parent nothing really can get us Kan Cheong (nervous) than to see our youngs falling sick, there is just so much worry when we see them sick, looks like today will be just a day of keep checking on him especially his body tempt.

Call it paranoid or what, i got even scared when i read in today's news that there was a second wave of H1N1 outbreak coming from Mexico, the news has not been comfirmed but that it self is enough to send shiver down to your spine.

Q) What was the worst experience you ever had, when your young was sick?

7.02 am Monday
P/S : Papa loves you.........Marvell

  1. My girl has been hospitalized before when she was four months old, admitted for test cos she was coughing excessively, but thank God, it was just viral infection. Then of course, as they grow up, fever is the main culprit, sometimes i spent sleepless nights, sponging their foreheads every now and then.. those were the days, my fren... (i wonder our kids know that or not later on...)

btw, eugene, i think u should go to your settings and adjust the time on your posts.. the timing runs, u should follow the GMT Malaysia or the country closest to MY. As u can see, the post written showed 6pm.. which i think is not right.. :)

  3. My kid who was 3 then, was hospitalised for prolong diarhoea and vomitting, which already for days and many visits to the GPs and child specialists doesn't help. It was until the day where he was so lethargic (which is quite dangerous already) we decided to send him to hospital where the child specialist who examined him urgently admitted him and got him on the drip. I was on the way to the JB hospital after my wife informed me and that was a long and anxious journey.

  4. Hope Marvell get well soon!! Now weather are bad, so hot! Kids tend to fall sick easily and of course the most we scare is the H1N1 outbreak.

My boys also down with flu and cough. :(

    Take care....

  6. God bless and take care! Hope he's getting better. You can also boil an egg, put a silver ring inside...place the egg in a handkerchief and rub the boy's body with it. He'll start sweating a lot...and the temperature will go down. Always change his clothes when sweating. Drink hot milk to encourage more sweating...

If still high, go see doctor or to hospital. Hope nothing serious - children fall sick all the time. Makes them stronger - all the antibodies!

  7. Second wave? Ouh...no! No! Please don't let it land our shores. :(

I would be extremely paranoid too if my little babies are sick! :)

  16. Whatever is the cause of fever, we must make sure that it doesn't hit 40degC (I think) and stayed there otherwise the consequences are severe, eg, brain damage, deafness, etc. The quickest way to bring the temperature down is to take a cool bath and sponging.
