" I will be all right in a few years time"

Jovial said this to me," Papa, you know lah, I am a teen now, a bit difficult but give me a few years, I will be all right, love ya"

I said to him, "Son, I am your father who loves you dearly, I will still have to tell you if I think you are wrong and I would love to see you growing up to be a fine young man"

P/S : Episode ended, curtain down and standing ovation

  1. Eugene, Jovial is a good boy!

I always believe if kids are filial and care about the parents, they won't go too wrong.

No worries, Jovial is one of them. Your kids are just like you... having great ability to make self examination/heart-searching (反省). Great family members!

  2. Jovial is your first born, so you will always find him turning teen tougher to handle. It is just the same for the first born baby, the first born toddler, the first born preschooler, the first born primary schooler and so on. Just line mine, I always find April harder to handle than lil May. All because we just lack of experience. Thank you, your blog is always there to be my guidance.

  7. No worry Jovial will turn to be a fine young man. Just gently remind and pinpoint when he did wrong.

  8. That's a very matured statement of assurance. He is basically saying even though he may mess up or stumble, he is able to clean it up and get back on track, with loving parents and God with him.

Jovial, remember God has great plans to prosper you.

  9. Jovial knows you care for him, hence he assures you that he'll be fine, provided time. It's a phase he's trying to adjust to.

You've make a great effort by talking and sharing with your sons, Eugene :)

  11. Eugene,

Remember you were young once. You know he is right , he is in his teen now and he must have known he can only be at this stage once only.
A pastor friend of mine related this story of his son in his teens dyed his shoulder length hair blue. Can you imagine B L U E and the old man must have freak out! The son told him Dad I will only be 21 once. Guess what the happy ending was on his wedding day he cut his hair and revert to his original hair color. So dont worry if your son has given his word, just trust him, he will turn out allright, just like my friend's son.

  12. My mum is in her 80s and she missed the days she could fuss over me like a kid. I told mama that I am always her favourite boy and son always. These days I still hold her hands firmly when we walk to restaurants and hospital visits weekly. She is frail now and I recall back when she held my hands as a kid then.
